The Australia add-ons adds the complexity of operating with long distances. Long-haul domestic routes carry a Range Restriction: airlines need a Long-Haul Token to serve them, capping how many far-flung routes a single carrier can run at once. To compensate for the cost of covering vast distances, fares on these routes are priced higher than standard routes, rewarding airlines that can commit aircraft to the long haul.
