Discover Board Game Cafes and Game Nights in Hanover in 2026

Coffee, cake, and a game that lasts longer than expected: Hanover’s DoDo Board Game Café is set up for exactly that kind of outing. For a different way to meet local players, specialist retailer Allerlei Spielerei also lists organised board game events. Here is how the café and event options compare when planning a gaming afternoon or evening in Hannover in 2026.

1. DoDo Board Game Café — choose your pace

DoDo’s collection covers quick games, party and family titles, two-player games, classics, and heavier strategy games. Staff offer help choosing something suitable, making it a useful starting point if your group has mixed experience. The café serves coffee, cake, beer, and wine, alongside melts, fries, snacks, and popcorn. Its concept allows for either a short game or a longer session with friends. The website has a table reservation option; check the playing information and current terms before booking, especially if you have a lengthy game in mind.

2. Allerlei Spielerei — follow the board game calendar

A games retailer can be a useful introduction to people as well as products. Allerlei Spielerei’s October 2026 calendar lists board game events titled “Spielen bei Francesca” and “Spielen im Ibis”, alongside its trading-card programme. These listings provide leads for organised sessions beyond a standard café visit. Open the individual event information or contact the shop to confirm where to go, whether registration is required, and what is provided. The retailer’s address below is its shop location; it should not be assumed to be the meeting place for an off-site event.

Build the outing around your group

For friends who already have a date in mind, start with DoDo’s table booking. If finding a hosted event is the goal, browse Allerlei Spielerei’s calendar first and let the programme guide your plans. Either route can work, but confirming the setting beforehand will help you choose between a café table and an organised gathering.

Make Your Hanover Plans

• At DoDo, ask about the current playing fee or table conditions before a long session.
• Filter the retailer’s events for “Brettspiele”; card tournaments are a different activity.
• Confirm off-site event addresses directly rather than navigating to the shop by default.
• Check opening hours and availability for your chosen date.
